TRUNK (HOTEL)

  • Founded in Japan, TRUNK(HOTEL) opened its first location in Jingumae, Shibuya in May 2017. The brand is built around the idea of “socializing,” encouraging people to live authentically within everyday life and with a sense of social purpose. In 2019, TRUNK(HOUSE) opened in Kagurazaka. The exclusive private property was created by renovating a former geisha training house. In September 2023, TRUNK(HOTEL) YOYOGI PARK opened in Tomigaya, Shibuya. Each location is developed with its own concept, offering a distinctive and contemporary luxury stay experience.

EXCLUSIVE CONTENTS

  • The collection is titled “AWAY FROM HOME.”
It approaches travel not as an escape, but as part of everyday life. nonnative pursues functional beauty grounded in daily wear. TRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREET is shaped by the idea of socializing and new relationships within the city. This project begins where those attitudes meet. The lineup includes five items: T-shirts (long sleeve, short sleeve, and kids), a cap, and a shoulder bag. A kids size, not usually offered by nonnative, allows the same message to be worn across generations. Inspired by designer Takayuki Fujii’s stay at TRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREET, the colors draw from soft daylight, city shadows, and tones that sit naturally within the surrounding landscape. Subdued earthy shades are used throughout. Each item is garment washed to create a gentle fade and lived-in texture, and finished with a collaboration-exclusive name tag. The T-shirts are made in Japan using an original body, featuring the “AWAY FROM HOME” graphic print and nonnative logo embroidery on the sleeve. They are designed to move easily from time spent indoors to stepping out into the city. The cap is made of cotton twill and blends naturally into everyday urban wear. The shoulder bag uses cotton canvas and features a snap-button opening, side pockets, and an adjustable strap, balancing practicality with a minimal appearance. All items are unisex.

DESIGNER’S COMMENT

  • The “AWAY FROM HOME” graphic reflects the act of leaving home and moving toward new places and experiences. It suggests the subtle shifts that come from stepping outside familiar surroundings. Rather than framing travel as something extraordinary, the phrase sees it as part of everyday life, a lifestyle that moves between places. The T-shirts, cap, and shoulder bag are designed to transition naturally from indoor time to the city outside, expressing nonnative’s vision of everyday wear shaped by moments of staying and in movement.
